Owens Electric & Solar recently completed a high-performance residential energy upgrade that combines advanced solar generation, whole-home battery storage, and a modernized electrical service designed for long-term reliability and energy independence. Half Moon Bay CA

The project features a 12-panel solar array built with premium 440-watt Silfab modules, delivering powerful solar production while maintaining a clean architectural profile on the home’s terra-cotta tile roof. Installing solar on tile roofs requires careful planning and coordination, and our team worked closely with the roofing contractor to ensure the tiles were professionally reinstalled and weather-sealed around the new solar array, preserving both the roof’s durability and its visual character.

To complement the solar system, we installed a Tesla Powerwall 3, providing the home with intelligent battery backup and energy management. The Powerwall allows the homeowner to store excess solar energy during the day and use it at night or during utility outages, increasing energy resilience while reducing reliance on the grid.

As part of the installation, our team also integrated a Tesla meter collar (meter ring) at the PG&E utility meter. This device allows seamless system monitoring and enables the Powerwall system to intelligently manage energy flow between the solar array, battery, home loads, and the utility grid.

To support the new energy system and future electrical demands, Owens Electric upgraded the property’s overhead electrical service to a new 200-amp Square D main service panel, providing increased capacity, modern protection, and a solid electrical foundation for the home’s evolving energy needs.
