Redwood City Solar Panel Replacement, Battery Backup, and SPAN Panel Upgrade

Owens Electric & Solar recently completed a full solar and electrical system upgrade for a homeowner in Redwood City, significantly improving both energy reliability and outage protection.

Solar Panel Replacement and Roof Coordination

This project began with the removal of the existing solar array to allow for repairs to the home’s foam roof. Once the roof work was completed, we installed 24 new REC 460-watt solar panels, delivering higher efficiency, increased production, and long-term performance.

SolarEdge Inverter and Optimizers

To maximize energy output and system monitoring, we installed a new SolarEdge inverter along with 24 new optimizers. This setup allows each panel to operate independently, improving overall system performance and providing detailed production data.

FranklinWH Battery Backup System

For whole-home resilience, we added a battery backup system consisting of two FranklinWH batteries paired with one aGate smart energy controller. During utility outages, the batteries seamlessly provide backup power, keeping the home energized and protected.

SPAN Smart Electrical Panel Upgrade

To complete the system, we installed a new 200-amp, 40-circuit SPAN panel. This smart panel ensures that critical loads continue to operate during a power outage while giving the homeowner full visibility and control over energy usage through the SPAN app.
