Homeowner Avoids Insurance Cancellation with New Siemens Electrical Panel, San Mateo

Owens Electric & Solar recently completed a 125 Amp meter-main panel replacement in San Mateo, California. The homeowner's insurance company had identified the existing electrical panel as a safety concern and notified the homeowner that their policy could be canceled unless the panel was upgraded.

The original panel was an aging Zinsco meter-main panel that had been installed in the 1970s. Due to the known safety concerns associated with older Zinsco equipment, the homeowner elected to replace the panel to maintain insurance coverage and improve the safety and reliability of the electrical system.

Owens Electric & Solar obtained the required city permit, coordinated directly with PG&E for the temporary disconnect and reconnect of power, removed the existing Zinsco meter-main panel, and installed a new Siemens 125 Amp meter-main panel in the same location. All work was completed in accordance with current electrical codes and local permitting requirements.

The new Siemens panel provides improved safety, reliability, and serviceability while helping the homeowner satisfy their insurance company's upgrade requirements.
