Emergency Power Surge Protection – 350 Broderick

Citiscape Property Management Group contacted us for an emergency electrical service call after a PG&E power surge caused catastrophic damage to a commercial roll-up door system at their property on Broderick Street San Francisco.

The surge destroyed the door’s control board—an especially costly component with a replacement value of approximately $16,000. Given the sensitivity of the equipment and the financial exposure involved, the property manager requested a permanent solution to prevent a repeat failure.

We installed a dedicated three-phase surge protection device on the circuit feeding the roll-up door controller. This protection device is specifically designed to clamp voltage spikes before they can reach sensitive electronics, significantly reducing the risk of damage from future utility surges or power quality events.

Scope of Work

Emergency troubleshooting following utility power surge

Verification of surge-related damage to control equipment

Installation of a three-phase surge protection device on the roll-up door circuit

System testing and verification of proper protection

This upgrade helps protect critical commercial equipment, supports insurance risk mitigation, and provides long-term peace of mind for both property management and ownership.

If your building has sensitive or high-value electrical equipment, proactive surge protection is one of the most cost-effective safeguards you can install—especially in areas prone to utility power events.
